New calls for 2002......
QuakerBoy sent a few of the new items again this winter , in the box there is the new Sidewinder Slate and Triple Slate, these calls seems ok , the sound chamber is out the side and the caller can move the call around to change directions, it also has volume to it. I think these calls are going to be a winner! What other calls are out this year ?

How do I get them to send me calls???

RE: New calls for 2002......
BT,H.S strut has solved the problem of a shaker gobble tube always making noise by putting a lid on it.I really like my Red Wolfe shaker tube but keeping the thing quite while moving around the woods was a chore.Well with this twist on cap they have come out with solves that problem! They have also come out with a new titanium glass slate that has ported holes all around the call itself to allow sound to travel in a 360 degree area.Kind of the surround sound theory.Looks interesting havent got it yet but its on the way.:)

RE: New calls for 2002......
Run and Gun Game Calls just came out with a limited edition series of hand carved Box calls. They are dedicated to and made like the very expensive Neil Cost Box calls, and are numbered 1 to 12. One for each month of the year. Newman showed me one and I'll tell you, they are awsome, and sound incredable.
I am going to get one, but they run about $120 |

Now Darin I think I saw your name added to the list of the Pro-Staff guys when I got the stuff the other day. :) What did ya'll think about the new snuff can? I don't really know that it is a snuff can any more, but I love it that we have a smaller tube style of call. I also like the Nasty Old Hen mouth call ok.

RE: New calls for 2002......
I just got my Midwest catalog in the mail yesterday and i took one look at the Quaker Boy dirrectional thing and i had to laugh. I mean, come on, is this thing for real? IMO it looks as if Quaker Boy is grabbing for straws with this one. I would have thought they would have learned their lesson with that quad-threat friction call thing they came out with last year. Really guys, what gimmiks will they (in the general sense) think of next??
The only new call i am interested in this year is a friction call made by a fellow in Virginia, or maybe PA, anyway he uses red oak and maple pots that are really low profile and his striker is unique. It's in the Midwest catalog close to the back. Edited by - zzvedder on 01/11/2002 09:29:43 |
RE: New calls for 2002......
I'm not sure about the directional Quaker Boy friction call either, although I think the 4-sided one from last year was a great idea for the turkey hunter on a budget.
I like the looks of the new Twist-tone locator call from M.A.D. 3 sounds in one call. Think I'll pick one of them up. My newest companion is the Blodgett Calls Tough Country slate over glass. This call is great, it has awesome engraving on the back and great sound as well. It came with a laminated maple striker that is very easy to control. I'm in love with this thing. Custom calls are addicting!! PBB Pick a hair.....or a caruncle!! |

RE: New calls for 2002......
Well, PA i have to say that it was because of a Blodgett call that i came up with the rule about not buying friction calls till i could use them. Worst call i have owned that "called" itself custom. It was the Midwest "limited edition" call from last year. I should have known better, but hey, that's what it's all about.

RE: New calls for 2002......
zzvedder , just out of interest , What kind of calls do you like ? You seem to just keep telling us what you dislike. You took a Slam at this Sindwinder and have never tried it. I have one in front of me here and it seems to sound all right to me. The Triple Threat was one of the smartest calls to hit the market, and I've killed birds with it aswell. Now the Quad Threat is another story , I feel it is not as good as the Triple but probably works to kill birds aswell. I don't feel they where gimicks only ideas for the public. I speak out about calls only when I know what they sound like and don't like to mislead anyone. I can not talk about other company's calls because I don't know about them. I will tell you though that at Quakerboy these calls are tested for hours before being marketed they are not just made and put on the shelf.I have been there and done it. Hunters/Callers are going to have a different angle about calls and some are going to have there likes and dislikes. I like to post on new calls and only talk about them after using them, this is why I started this post. I also like to read on the other companies and their new ideas aswell, this gives everyone an idea whats out there, just because I wear a name don't mean I can't talk to others from their companies. I enjoy this sport and like to help others as I go. I would think it would get very Stale with NO new products to look at and try. Lets try to help here other than put down...BT

RE: New calls for 2002......
I absolutely agree BT!I do think warning one another about the good with the bad is a help to us all.But lets keep in mind because it does'nt work for you does'nt mean it is'nt working for someone else.I've been hooked by the gimmicks and crap thats out there also, but you never know when one of em may actually work.I remember when gobble tubes first came out.My first thought was what a joke. But now I never leave home without my Red Wolfe, its accounted for a few gobblers itself over the years. So lets be a little open minded when it comes to new products. This is not to say there is'nt some junk out there, because yes I know there is! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
