RE: Can you help?

There is a lot to learn and while some of the experts who visit this board can tell you literally everything that is a lot to ask. To get a start, I suggest that you buy one of the starting videos (Hunter Specialties has a pretty good one called "So You Want to be a Turkey Hunter") and learn some basics. Then you can come back here with some specific questions. After you get some basic knowledge you also need to hook up with your uncle or someone who has some experience and have them take you out in the field and teach you how to hunt turkeys (if you don't have someone to "show you the ropes" you can still learn but it will take a while). Turkey hunting is a great sport and very addicting. If you learn to do it right you will be hooked for life. Just ask the guys on this board.

Oh to be 15 again!!!HNI visitor turkey hunting is the most addicting sport I've ever participated in!The highs and lows one experiences over the years let alone one hunt can be quite breath taking.Nowadays with T.V shows like Turkey Call and Gobblin Fever I do believe Buckeye Mike is steering you the right direction. There are many videos, cassette tapes,cd's and your computor that you can gain valuable information that will help you when you take to the field to hunt ole gobbler.Post questions on the board here and will do what we can to help you out.If I could give two pieces of advice to any new turkey hunter it would be to remember that position is more important than being a great caller, and to treat the outdoors as your own classroom. We can read and watch all kinds of stuff relative to turkey hunting but any good turkey hunter will tell you much of what an individual has learned came from his or her experience outdoors huntin ole longbeard in the woods!Have fun BOB!! :)Heres a happy 15 year old some years back!!<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
