Finished my fan mount
 

This mount is of my jake i thought it has a nice fan, my big bird is at the real taxidermist now.. i tried to be a little creative with the whole beard in the shotgun shell and the turkey pin up there. tell me what you think...i didnt think it was half bad for my first time.

Looks awesome, what'd you use as a base? a store bought piece? or something homemade?

Very nice. Got my fan and beard sitting in borax now... I'm gonna shop for a placque (sp?) as soon as I have a chance.

Not bad, but fan is a little off center. As for the shotgun shell, I would cut off the plastic and glue the beard into the brass. Trust me it would look better. You got a turkey mounted, dang $$$$$$$. I dont know what its costing you but around me it costs $450 and up. No thanks!!! Ive shot 3 good toms and would have liked to had atleast 1 mounted, but didnt want to dish out the moola, plus Ive got a deer and a fox in now and another fox to take in. I was going to go hog hunting this year but money was an issue so I couldve had a hog at the taxidermist to. Talk about expensive.

I've got one at the taxidermist's right now too. And, I've got my second fan and beard coated with Borax tacked to a piece of cardboard.

Nice job. I hope I can come up with an acceptable looking fan mount. Does anyone have the website for Van Dykes?

I think you did a great job! You should be proud. I took my brid in for a fan, back feathers, breast feathers, beard and spurs mount. I can't wait to get it back. They said about 3 months. I will share it with everyone when I get it back.

ONLY 3 MONTHS? dang my tazidermist said it would be 8-9 months, but then again she is one of the best in the state so she would probably have alot of work which is understandable. heres a pic of him before...
