How many ppl didn't kill 1 this year. I came close but no cookie!

I did not shoot a bird either. This was the first year that I actually did it all by my self. I came close on numerous occassions and learned plenty of lessons to apply to next year though!!

Nothing here either for the last two years. We are having some hard times here in VA. First it was the drought; which brought about an acorn drought. Then there was these LATE frosts; I'm talking in May here. This also killed the acorn blooms again this year [:@] Both the deer and turkeys are having it rough. This year was the least amount of gobbling we have ever heard, but on the bright side there are still some hens around to keep the toms happy, too happy!

Count me in that group this spring as well. First time in years. Oh well. It's just the way it goes with a short season and limited ability to get out with starting a new job.

We still had fun though! :D

Same here...no bird yet....I hunted with my son two weeks ago and he got tagged again before 6AM...Sometimes that kid can really piss me off...:D:D

Nothin here yet either. Will give it another shot tomorow AM though still have 1 week left:( maybe can make the magic happen. Have had the oppurtunity to work the same bird 2 times now , maybe the third time is a charm?

Nothing here yet either. Had one day with multiple opportunities, but blew a shot. I'm going to CT tomorrow to check out a new piece of land. Got some good intel on where they roost and how they travel. Next week is going to be lost on work... The following week is still open though. I haven't scored in the last 2 years, I'm still hoping I break the dry spell this year.

I have 2 days left. It is not looking good.
I cannot get them to answer any calls and the ones that do come in, stop short of the decoys or short of where I am calling from.
Hope it gets better for everyone!!

I did call a real nice Tom on in on public land only,
To have antoher hunter shot it. [>:]
He was between me and the Tom. [&:]

Boy did that burst my bubble.
Espesaly when he walked out and showed it to me.[:@]

add me to the list of those who got zippo this year[:@] got one setup busted by forester, one by dogs, and one by son-in-law(although he claims ?I MOVED?:D it was his first hunt, but he's hooked big time now!! can't hunt like i used to because of heart attacks 2 years ago, but i keep trying. the wife claims i've killed off the dumb birds and need to bone up on calling in the smart ones!:D keep the faith and keep trying, it's got to get better, eventually:D:):D

Yes, I got skunked this weekend. Actually, this is only the 3rd time I went out this year. But last weekend I heard a lot of gobbling, so I came back this sunday with a decoy and set up at first light. I did a lot of yelping, but heard nothing!
Anyway, I am pretty new at turkey hunting, so I am wondering why I heard nothing after so much gobbling last week. I figure I must have been close to some roosts because I heard several gobblers at sunup last week (even before I started calling).

Oh well, next year I will be back! Still need to get that first one.

Things aren't looking good here... I've got 4 more days here in MA and 1 more week in CT. I had my chance and blew it with a crap shot.... I only have myself to blame.
I'm gonna go every morning for the rest of this week. 1 bird is really giving me the run around.

same here... had 1 real "chance", but the hen led him away... heard very little gobbling tis year, as past yrs. seems we're growing a quieter strain of bird....20 yrs ago, even the Jakes wouldn't keep still!!
