Melanistic turkey

Looking for any information on melanistic turkeys. Took a 20 lb jake that was almost totally black in color. I know there are different color phases, but was looking for the average occurance of the melanistic color. There was no striping that is common for the easterns birds in our region, and the feet were white in color.
