Moultrie M-80XD batterylife
Anyone else have problems with batterylife using their M-80XD? It is has been in the single digits at night and teens during day for temperatures. I have been using Rayovac Alkaline batteries which I know have poor batterylife in cold temperatures. Will Lithiums work better in these cameras? I have always used Lithiums in my Reconyx but in the Reconyx there is a setting for lithium batteries. I am looking for any and all recommendations.
Aside from the batterylife the 4 M-80XDs I have take great pictures and the flash range is better then anything I have seen. But without batteries everything good is voided.

Batteries and cold weather just don't do good.
As far as the XD80s and I have several the battery life has out done all my other cams. Now battery life is less with the Plot option as one would expect. Plots take lots of pictures over a 2 to 4 hr period so one needs to understand battery life will be poor. I have not tried the video yet but have used the 'Hybrid' (Plot camera morning and evening and a trail cam at night) with good success.
And I have used the trail cam only and my battery life has been fantastic. But then the norhther woods of WI have not been all that bad. But now it is in the teens so I expect my battery life to go down hill compared to warmer weather.
Now I have not used the Lithium batteris only Alkaline. Tho Lithium will last longer I buy my AA batteries in bulk and do watch for sales. I have 8 Xd80s!
And you might consider re-chargeables. I ahve used a few of them and they work well too.
Good post would like to know what others do as I may learn something here!

The litiums last 5 times longer that the alkilines. What is better yet is the cold doesn't affect lithiums. I used them all winter on mY Reconyx and they are still good. Must have takes 15-20,000 pics with them batteries. I also think the M80 takes a better pic that the 475 Reconyx. The Reconyx is better in every other way though.
