Before and After

The deer on my radar this year is the 6x6 below, if you'll note the time stamp this particular day, he was under the stand at 10am, I climbed into that stand at just before 2pm.

This guy has also been on my radar the last couple of years, i drew back on him last year but passed

well the other night (ya same night I got into my stand to late to shoot the 6x6, this guy steps out chasing a doe and I grunt him to within 20 yards, I pass cause i want the 6x6, he comes back, again i pass, the third time I couldnt pass:)

Holy moly

That big 8 probably scores about the same as the 6x6, you think?
What did he weigh?

RPD63 11-25-2012 04:38 PM

What do y'all Canadians wear as far as hunting clothing to stay warm in that weather condition if I may ask ?

i didn't weigh him, he wasn't the biggest bodied deer I've shot there, guessing somewhere in the 250 pound range

It's all about layers, I use the high tech underwear (HH or Underarmour) to keep moisture off the skin, then several layers to keep in heat and something to break the wind, also hand warmers and toe warmers help, in severe temps I use a Body Heater suite, it's a little cumbersome in the stand but it'll buy you a couple of hours. I learned the hard way a few years ago in very cold temps (-25C) that I had too many bulky players on, went to draw back on a buck and had such a hard time he stood there and watched me struggle then trotted off
