Which camera to choose? the difference in price doesn't concern me

Non-Typical Cuddeback Capture 3.0 Digital $100
Primos Truth Cam 60 7.0mp IR Trail Camera $120
Wildgame Innovations X6C $120
Moultrie 6.0 Outfitter IR Scouting Camera $110

Jeffro_17 07-17-2011 09:15 PM

I can't speak for the other cameras, but I have the Primos Truth Cam 60 and I love mine. I'm planning on picking up another one soon. I have a thread with a few night and day pics on it. http://www.huntingnet.com/forum/trai...pics-year.html

Check out this chart and see what you think. I think most of your list is mentioned here.

Very good information PastorJim08. Thanks for sharing.

THEMAKKER13 07-18-2011 10:53 AM

Nice pics, jeffro. Ok thanks, great info pastorjim! Well the Wildgame Innovations has the greatest detection area, but is it a reliable and durable camera?

whitetail_fanatic 07-18-2011 02:14 PM

Cudde gets my vote.

BigDaddy12t 07-18-2011 04:49 PM

The Cuddeeback gets my vote too.

THEMAKKER13 07-18-2011 05:03 PM

NO!!They are out of stock at Cabelas, and now too expensive. (Cabelas has a sale now)
What would be second?

JW 07-18-2011 06:59 PM

Well I have not had them long but I like the Moultrie better than the Cudde back I have.

Cudde does give me a better picture quality but the Moultrie D50 has performed better with more pictures and far better battery life.

But heck only had em out 4 months so far.

The Moultrie d55 IR's take pretty nice pictures both night and day, however the trigger speed is slower than grandma's molassas. I think its somewhere in the 4 second range. Horrid. If you have it over a food source (corn etc) its nice, but dont expect any pictures on it if you are putting it on a trail.

THEMAKKER13 07-18-2011 08:24 PM

Ok thanks guys, I think I'm gonna go with one of the moultries

BearCaller 07-19-2011 06:56 AM

WildGame X6C. I love mine and the battery life is fantastic. You could also get one of the new micros they have or their new pulse models.

More info on them here.
Micro Red 6
X6C
Pulse 10D

THEMAKKER13 07-19-2011 08:54 AM

Actually I'm gonna shell out some more cash and go with a Bushnell Trophy Cam. Probably

A new Cuddeback for $100? Are you sure?

THEMAKKER13 07-19-2011 06:01 PM

Yeah it was on sale, but now I can't find it. I believe it was on Cabelas but theyre now sold out. They also have some refurbished ones for $110.

penninside08 07-19-2011 08:57 PM

buy a moultrie m80 and you will never want to buy another cam in your life

whitetail_fanatic 07-19-2011 09:22 PM

Natchez has reconditioned cudde's for 100$

THEMAKKER13 07-20-2011 09:52 AM

Would the recondition cam's still be of good quality though?

THEMAKKER13 07-20-2011 10:05 AM

Just found a Cuddeback for $145 on sale and free shipping on optics planet, its the Cuddeback Digital Scouting Capture Camera 1125

FIREMANJIM01 07-23-2011 05:46 AM

Why not try a "homebrew" camera. Made with Sony cameras. Control boards made right here in the USA. Warrantied FOREVER. Every single unit is custom made to suit your needs such as battery life, detection distance, flash range and strength, ir, video or IR video. Too many options to list.

THEMAKKER13 07-23-2011 09:30 AM

Thanks. I'll have to check them out.

GTOHunter 07-23-2011 03:07 PM

I have several Moultrie Camera's and the I-60 camera's I have work great...I'd get the Moultrie You mentioned and or the Cuddeback "Capture" Flash Camera...it has a much faster trigger speed and usually nothing will get by it without it taking a picture.

THEMAKKER13 07-23-2011 08:07 PM

Yes I'm getting 2 cameras and they don't have to be the same. I'm thinking one with a quick trigger time for trails (the cuddeback) and maybe something with a good detection zone and quality picture for food sources (bushnell/moultrie)

GTOHunter 07-24-2011 07:42 AM

Thats a very good idea...picking 2 different Camera's to fit Your different needs and goals.I've heard good things about the Bushnell's and the Moultrie M-80X and M-100.I think my next new camera will be the M-100 since they are in Camo, and have 6.0 megapixels for better picture quality!

THEMAKKER13 07-24-2011 08:17 AM

Ok thanks for your help

Because you can get awesome cams like the M-80, X6C etc. for under $110.00 that will do everything he needs. Pike

THEMAKKER13 07-29-2011 09:03 PM

THEMAKKER13 07-30-2011 07:14 AM

I've found some M80's for pretty cheap on sale, maybe $120 if my memory is correct.

THEMAKKER13 07-30-2011 07:20 PM

Probably one that I returned. Did you read that site Jim linked? Even if they do work they'll work as good as that site claims which is bad.

I just kept buying cams and returning them till I found one that worked. In the mean time I renerated bonus points and was able to return one and use the points to buy the next. Never ended up buying one from them as they didn't have one that worked well enough.

Hows the new one working? I didn't try that one.

THEMAKKER13 07-31-2011 07:17 PM

Yeah, I did read it, it was a great resource, and ultimately helped me make my decision to get the Bushnell Trophy Cam. Thanks for the help guys.

wmdbowhunter 08-14-2011 04:44 PM

I have 3 x6c's and they have worked flawless for me over the past year and a half. The moultrie m80's are great cam's also.
