Infra red scarring animals
I have been using game cameras for sometime now.
I just started using some of them on video mode.
Remember, I am talking about night video in this thread.
I have noticed that it picture mode animals will look at the camera but it does not seem to spook them.
Now on video mode, I have had deer notice ( stare ) and even blow at the camera.
Coyotes run as soon as the IR's turn on.
I put a deer carcass out and put a camera on it.
Every coyote ran as soon as the camera went on.
Now in the day, coyotes never ran when the camera went on. ( 150 day time videos ).
The last to videos are deer with the night time IR videos.

sounds like you have a defective camera, on all the videos I have ever taken or seen non of them make any noise like you hear on your videos, have ever taken a video while your standing in the woods?? can you hear that awefull noise its making?? I would check that first and see if that is what is scaring the animals what camera are you using?

I'm not sure if there is a concrete answer. I think animals have different personalitys and while some may be scared off by the camera, others are not or are just curious. Coyotes are by nature much more cautious and anything out of the ordinary will send them running. I think the one deer that did leave abruptly may have smelled something on the camera.

They all can't be defective.
The one with the carcass was a predator and it has a microphone built in for sound with the videos. It always has a muffed sound when recording, but you can not hear anything when it is taking pictures or videos.
Here is the last video from the Predator when I came in and took the camera.
You will hear me open the camera and shut it off.
In the 1st post some are from Bushnells and I'll post some from Wildgames.

It doesn't affect them in the day time.
I think it is them seeing the IR's.
It has been with different brand cameras and different locations.

Here is a video from a Wildgame that I have a couple of thousand pictures from without changing anything but switching to video.
The IR's being on the whole time it is videoing instead of a quick flash of a picture.
These deer stay for hours and in video mode, they walked out and didn't come back.
Posting videos on hosting website aren't the greatest.
Photobucket is better then YouTube, but they are still dark.
The originals are no where as dark and you can see the deer good.

My Bushnell Trophy has the same IR effect on coyotes. And like the good pastor said, they are coyotes. Jumpiest 4 leggers of the woods.
Deer rarely seem to care about the IR.
