Something Different

Checking my cameras today I found the following:

I didn't know for sure what I had until I was lucky enough to catch it on another camera.

What was that? It seems rather large for a mink to me.

Thats a fisher not a mink. Same family but not a mink.

Yea, I couldn't think of the name. Fisher. I agree. Minks are like half the size.

Yeah looks like a fisher. Saw mounts back in high school during my conservation class. Then couple years ago during rifle hunting had one about 60 yards away if that.

Watch it they're mean buggers.

Many thanks for the viewing, information and comments. I am not familiar with a fisher. After reading some of the comments and reviewing the video, I realize this animal is much larger than a mink and being I've only seen a couple of mink, this one is very dark in comparison. My first thought if this was a mink, it must be on steroids. Here is a link for anyone interested: http://animaldiversity.ummz.umich.ed..._pennanti.html

To be the only true predator of porcupine you gotta be one mean critter. They are a neat animal. I've seen a few, mounted a couple, and me and my buddies trap them every year if we draw a tag. They are suprisingly quick and super agile. They will turn a porky into dinner quicker than you can porcupine 15 times without a single quil being stuck.
