No doubt about it IMO it is an Eastern Coyote and we have more than our fair share of them here! We also have had a couple of wolfs killed here as well. One was shot by a bear hunter thinking it was a bear and the only other one that I know of was caught by a trapper. The guy that shot the black one recieved a quite a bit of time for it. They say they are not here though and our coyotes are mixed with wolf. Some are up to 80% wolf. I believe it was from a wolf planting program that failed for the most part because the coyotes bred with the wolves. The powers decided not to plant any wolves here because they couldn't servive from the cross breeding.

I sent a pic of it to the dnr and the wolf guy called me back and said it is a wolf for sure. He said it is prob a female. I am from warrens area. what part are you from EK? We are having a big problem with the wolfs right now. The dnr has trapped 4 of them in the last week. If i wouldnt have seen it in person i would have thought it was a coyote to. I have a 65 70lbs lab and it made here look small. The pic dosn't really show how big it is.

I'm from the stevens point area. This pic was taken about 15 miles northeast from point. And yeah its wearing a tracking collar. Just goes to show you how far they travel to look for a pack of their own.
