From what I can tell it looks like shedding. One picture has the same thing on his hind leg

Looks like areas where the flies are biting him. Won't notice it come mid sept.

Im not too sure what he would score. I sure like his looks though. This spot is in a 20 acre timber surounded be crops and 80 yards from my back door. Im pretty fortunate to see these deer on a daily basis and there are a couple more that havent got in front of the cameras yet that are some real dandies. The bordering property is a 2000 acre wildlife management property that really grows some monsters. And basically they just are passing by my place.
