1st Scoutguard Problems
Let me start off by saying i purchased 2 Scoutguards in Sept. of 08' and they've been good cameras. They have great battery life and are easy to conceal.
Last fall i had the plastic piece break on the end of the remote cord where it plugs into the camera itself. Guys, im by no means hard on any equipment! The remote works fine, the problem being when you disconnect it from the camera u'll be pulling on the wires. (yes i know i could just use my other remote) The fix: All i did was use some 3/8 shrink tube, and i put 3 layers on and it worked great. I would advise all Scoutguard users to do this IF YOUR CAMERA IS OUT OF WARRANTY! Keep in mind though if you still have the plastic piece intact 3/8 tube will not work, its too small and u'll have to get the next size bigger. And make sure you go with low heat and take your time so you don't melt the wires on the inside. I used a lighter. It's just some preventive maintanance and alot cheaper then 30 bucks for a new remote I didn't get any pics before i put the shrink tube on, sorry. THE PICS This is the good remote and how it should look ![]() This is the remote i fixed with the broken piece ![]() The 2 side by side ![]() ![]() |
Thanks for the heads up.

The pad on my 2yr old SG550's remote broke a couple weeks ago.
I emailed HCO and they replied with in one day and told me to send it in for free replacement. Should have contacted them. ![]() |
