Bushnell Trophy Cam
I recently got one of these cameras. I was told by a friend that this is a great camera. He had one of the original ScoutGuard cameras and had nothing but good things to say about it. I guess after ScoutGuard starting using horrible cameras in their new models, Bushnell got the idea to use the same good cameras that were in the original ScoutGuards. I just put the Trophy Cam out yesterday and was wondering if anyone has used these for a while and what you think of them?

First of all, welcome to the forums. If this is your first trailcam, I think you will find this hobby to be alot of fun and very addictive. I have no experience with the Bushnell Trophycam but I have read and heard alot of positives about it. You can see more professional reviews at www.chasingame.com and www.trailcampro.com These are two great sites for camera reviews and information.:sign0016::sign0016::sign0016:

I haven't heard anything bad about new Scoutguards. I have an 08' model that I love and a buddy got one right before fall and it works the same as mine. |
I'm enjoying my Trophy cam so far, but I've only had it for a few days. I put it out in some horrible weather (read my post and view the picture I put out yesterday) and now it's supposed to get pretty cold here (around 0 F) so I'll see what this camera is made of and what my Energizer bunnies are made of as well. I need to tinker witht he settings some more to make it workt he way I want it, but I like the fact that you have so many options on picture burst modes and delay between pictures. Look forward to hearing about your experiences with this camera. I need to buy an easier security box than what I manufactured myself.

I've had mine out now for just over a month. First camera I've ever had. It has been out in the sun, sleet, freezing rain and snow. The battery life is still good and I am very satisfied with the pictures that it has been taking. Very easy to use, average price and decent quality. Overall, a good camera.

These 2 cameras are not that much different. But overall, sounds like the internal parts in the ScoutGuard got downgraded w/ their new models. Not that big of a change though. |

I was telling him i was going to get one and he said to hold up. He did some research because he, he too, was going to get another one. I guess the word got out that these were great cameras and the company started outsourcing their production and parts to some Chinese company and they started using cheaper parts and cameras in their new models to make a larger profit. Whenever this happened, Bushnell starting using the same cameras in the Trophy Cam that ScoutGuard had in their original cameras. so basically, the Bushnell Trophy Cam is a ScoutGuard550, original model, in a Bushnell case.

I hadn't heard anything about new cameras being different quality and I bet that they would like to be told that this rumor is out there and see what their response would be .. |
Well that is definitely the word on the street, because i would have bought a ScoutGuard if i didnt hear of that rumor.

I just got a Bushnell for xmas (its out taking pics as I type)....The controls on the lcd screen are the same exact as on my scoutguard. As for the scoutguard.... It worked good for the first couple months, then crapped the bed...It is currently being repaired...I was very dissapointed with it.
