My wildview 2.0 setup and 1st pics
Well Santa came through for me this year and hooked me up w/ a twin pack of wildview extreme 2.0 cameras, and I headed to Fleet Farm today to get em all decked out. First off was the external battery kits. Instead of dropping $100 on 2 of stealth cam's leaky models, I decided to DIY and here's what I came up with...
2 12V 8 AH batteries 2 army surplus ammo cans 2 cords I salvaged from random electronics around the house The batteries fit just right in the ammo cans which are completely watertight, with a hole drilled in the side for the cord to run through and sealed w/ silicone. Along with a couple of 2gb memory cards, recommended by the manual so as to prevent any compatability issues. The final step was the camo, instead of getting the factory camo decals, I picked up a $6 roll of camo tape and fashioned my own, it's not perfect, but its better than nothing! I'll have em out in the woods tomorrow and hopefully I'll have some pics to share next weekend. In total the cost for the 2 setups was $75, including the memory cards, so I think I made out pretty well, and I know I have 2 good batteries and cases that won't leak. Here's a pic of the camo job on one of the cameras. ![]() Well I set the camera up last night over some corn just to test it out and make sure the battery and everything was working properly, and it was! Here are a few of the pics I got last night; the manual says it should have been full at 13 with the built in 16MB memory, but I got 45 pics on low setting. I also tested the burst mode and all the pictures in the burst clusters seem to be no more than 5-6 seconds apart. I had it aimed a little low so there is some whiteout where the flash was right on the snow, but now I know better next time. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Hi Schobs:
Nice camo job. Good luck with the Wildview trail cameras. The 12 volt external power supply should work good, especially in colder weather. Thanks for sharing. Have a good Christmas Holiday. |
yep, over bait the wildview2 i have works ok. wouldnt think of trying to use one again without 12volt bost, very inconsistent otherwize. if i ever do get away from stealth cam i would go with the wildview5IR, but i have better luck with my stealth cam sniper IR o'yea, santa rocks
