Reconyx Trail cam users

I'm going to get another Reconyx trail camera. I have the RC60, It's been an awesome camera so I figure I'm getting another one! One thing I'd like to see a bit better Is the night time pics. I'm thinking about upgrading from the RC60 to higher end Reconyx. Anyone have one? What's your thoughts?

Thanks In advance!

Schultzy,

If I had any complaints about my Reconyx, it would be the night-time pics. They always seem a little grainy to me. I did go to their website to see if this issue is addressed. They recommend using either lithium batteries or rechargables. They do not recommend using alkalines. I was actually in Wally-World yesterday looking at these batteries. It seems to me the cheaper way to go would be the recharchables. The initial cost is greater, about $100.00 for two sets of batteries and the charger, but in the long run, it would be a lot cheaper than buying lithiums everytime you switched batteries. They say this improves the IR pics. Also, I think there is a software update available on their website that deals with this issue, you might check it out. Hope this helps.

Blessings.....Pastorjim

There are differen setting on your camera for night time pics. Check your owners manual it as all the different settings and what to use for best performance. If you dont have one you can get it off their website. I have noticed on max range setting that the pics are grainy but set on default or some of the higher quality settings the pictures are better. It can vary from night to night because of different light conditions. I have had good crisp clear pictures out to 100 feet or so and kind of grainy pictures where the flash my reach half that distance all in the same week. The only thing that I know of that the different batteries do is for more consistant flash and cold weather performance.

Get the upgraded HO models! The High Output will brighten up your pix considerably. Also, for $50, you can send in your current model and the great folks at Reconyx will upgrade it for you as well.

Thanks guys!! I have my night time pics set on default, seems to be the best for mine with picture quality. I tried the other settings but didn't like them near as much.

IL-Cornfed, What Reconyx do you have?
