Weird genetics?

My cousin sent me these pictures of a couple bucks he got on the same trail cam. The one with the thick right side looks like he may be hurt.

so I just read the post about posting the type of trail cam it is. He just bought a Moultrie Game Spy M45. This was from his first round of pictures. So far he has had good luck with it.

That is a really young deer. We have had one or two yearlings looking like that but they seem to have corrected themselves in subsequent years.
I don't know if it is genetics on your deer there or if it has to do with the nutrition factor; that can be what causes odd antler development as well. Either way, he is either gonna be one great character buck in three years or a bruiser of a mainframe 8!!! |
yup he's hurt. I bet it was a vehicle accident or bad shot. very typical, the rack is messed up on the opposite side of the injury.

Thanks guys I was thinking the same thing. My cousin was thinking about taking a friend there (he has used his 2 buck tags) and try to end his suffering. Do you think he will make it another year? If so I agree with IOWABUCKHUNTER that he is going to be a great looking deer with some sweet characteristics. Would you let him live another year?

It looks like the injury was sustained on his right hind leg, but it is weird because the rack is messed up on the right side (same side). I always heard that the opposite side of the rack would be messed up.

yeah i would take him out so he dont infect the other deer to come
