What do you think?? Should I cull him this year or let him go. Been seeing him alot this year. Dont want to introduce bad genes.

I would let him walk. He doesn't look old, so maybe next year he will be something much different. We had a button here last year, and this year he is a nice fork, not as nice as that, but still nice for his first antlers. If I didn't know it was the button, I wouldn't believe it myself, but his right ear is cut in a very distinct way, so I know he is the same deer. I couldn't believe he had the forks for a first set of antlers, especially here in NY. There are so many little spikes and tiny forks around here this year. I would have thought one of those were him, but there he was with his scarred ear and forks on his head. Anyway, I don't think you wanted all that for an answer, but I would let him walk one more year and see what happens. This was a button last year. Like I said, nothing like yours, but impressive to me for first antlers.

If your happy filling your tag with that buck I would take him, if not let him walk.
You cant improve the genetics of a free ranging herd by culling bucks so you would just be wasting your tag(s) on a buck you didnt enjoy harvesting. Pike

Let him go he is young. Big 6pts are hard to come by.

Let him grow.

OK

Do you think hes only 2.5?? for some reason his body looks older to me. his body looks big but rack is small. My father in law says "some grow the bodies first then the rack.." "Ive seen it many times."

Maybe hes right for once:confused0024:

I have a pic of a little forky from last year hanging around the house. Maybe its him again. Ill dig it up and compare.

If hes as young as you all think, he's walking.

THanks all

Personally I dont believe in cull bucks ( unless they have serious then deformities then I'll let my little nephew or a friend shoot 'em) but that is a good deer he looks young and he has some good mass already.

If you have to ask someone what to do you won't be happy with him, he has good potential you never know
