trail cam suggestions needed
 

first off i'm new here but i think i've read every post the last couple days :biggrin:
now my question i'm looking for another cam thought i would do some research first and WOW a lot more info than i needed. if theres a cam site i've seen it, read it, but still cant make my decision. i think i'm wanting a bushnell trophy cam, spypoint fl-a/ir-a, or moultrie i40
problems
trophy cam only goes out to 45 ft detection (wish it had more info
on pic like temp moon doesnt matter though)
spypoint white washes at night
moultrie has slow trigger.

all that is what i have read.


if each of these would fix those problems i would get it.
still thinking of the trophy cause i will be using food for the pics. so should be inside 45. like the size.

any suggestions.

You did your homework. If it is for trails, bushnell. If not the I-40 is great for bait/survey work(and its on sale in a bunch of places). The 45' range of the bushnell is really pretty good compared to most cameras. The IR "flash" isn't quite as bright as the I-40. You will probably end up with one of each, like me. I bought the I-40 first, great camera with BEAUTIFUL pics. I bought the DLC covertII this year(camera/flash/detection zone same as a bushnell trophy), its a better all around camera if you only have one IMO.

I agree, trying to decide which camera to buy is very difficult IMO. There really is a lot to consider, and a lot of great cams. With that said, I purchased a Trophy Cam after much consideration, mainly the size, 2 year warranty, programming ease, SD card removal, and price :s2:

i have 2 scoutguards...assentially the same as the trophy camera. if you have your bait about 20 ft away you will love the camera. great night pics and the day ones are crisp and clear. i have maybe 2 whiteout pics out of 1400 every week. the camera is very sensitive tho which can be bad, i have ears and noses in pictures...you get the idea. video is smooth and very clear for both day and night. i do have pictures farther away then 45 ft, IMO if its past 50 you cant get detail of the animal, cant see the size of the buck for instance....until he comes to your bait that is...ill post some day and night pics and a vid just cuz i can:wink:


hybrid...my fav kind of pictures..when its light out but the camera thinks its dark haha

didnt want to include the scoutguard and covert since i was looking at the trophy. all three the same. thought i would like the remote but then thought i would forget it at home. sounds dumb but i would like to see trophy get rid of the graying out for the name and time/date and just over lay it on the pic. maybe even add moon and temp and location name. i usually name my pics like hill side or river even named them spot 1 spot 2 couple times but forgot which one was which :)
one thing i cant remember is, if the trophy is software/firmware upgradeable.

I thought the remote might deter theft, but the thieves dont know the difference. Plus, I am not smart enough to remember to bring the remote with me either. Luckily the batteries last long enough to only change maybe once a year!

never thought of it that way. would be a good idea for all cams to go that route, mate them with the remote so there useless without the original.

also wish the trophy had a laser aim.
