BuckRogers 07-28-2009 11:48 AM

I hate everyone here that is getting pics of the dream bucks they have running around while mine stay hidden. But seriously that is one hell of a deer. Got plans for him? ie. letting him walk or gonna smoke him?

Canuck33 07-28-2009 12:03 PM

I hope letting him walk that is amazing to havea young buck that has that character, in 2 years maybe one he will be a slammer right now although he is cool he doesn't look like he will be much other than a double droptine buck

TheYoungOne 07-28-2009 07:05 PM

idk, the thing is i only get to bow hunt in there.. Others gun hunt.. and knowing people around here, he wont survive if its up to them. So im kinda in a dilemma.. If it was my private land and could manage it, id let him walk for sure.. but its either i get him, or some redneck will.. im leaning towards me shooting him.. not everyday do you get a chance at a double drop.. but i got another month to think it over..so idk for sure

Hey Young`un, if a buck like that shows up on one of my cameras I'm gonna pee my pants. We have a 6-point or better rule on our 9-man lease. He would fall to the first member to see him.

Pops423 07-29-2009 07:51 AM

If you can't decide, I'd be happy to come along and take him. Last year I had a buck I named 'Off-limits' He was a year old deer that was a 9 point. G2's both split and the one side had 3 brows and the other none. Tight little rack that I thought would grow into a giant.

I passed him on November 13th. That was the last I saw of him. My guess is someone count 4 points on one side and now he is history. He was a regular on my TC last year.

Like you said, unless you can strictly manage, take him out.

RUNNOFT 07-29-2009 08:29 AM

he's nice, but a buck of that caliber deserves the opportunity to become the buck that we all dream of which he will be in a year or two... with that being said... I can say that because i will not be tempted this fall with him...i.m glad

Let the scrub go for another year!

timmyzimmy 07-29-2009 12:25 PM

2 1/2 yr old drop tine. Give him a year or two, he be a Monster. Nice. Course, even my arrow might get in his way they way he looks now!

MichiganWhitetails74 07-29-2009 06:44 PM

Just one more year

What a buck!

MichiganBowbender 07-30-2009 01:16 PM

Hard decision, don't know what I would do honestly til the moment of truth, seeing I have never encountered a drop tine in 30 years of bowhunting. And no guarantees he would carry the same characteristics in the rack in coming years, but you'll never know if he's dead. Doesn't much matter what anyone elses opinion is anyway. Your the only one he has to make happy, and if he flips your switch, by all means take him and don't be concerned about what anyone else thinks. If you feel like you will ever have to apologize for your decision, then let him walk.

WIbuckchaser 07-31-2009 07:19 PM

He'd be a super buck in a couple years, but whatever you choose to do is up to you. Thanks for sharing.
