trail cameras
 

What are some good cameras out there.I want somthing that I can put out and not have to worry about it.I would like one that has good battery life.I also don't want to spend an arm and a leg.I know you guys have some good advice so lets hear it.

I own one Moultrie 4.0 and have had pretty good luck with it. Good quality pics, excellant battery life, and it runs around $199.99.

Are you gonna set it up on a trail or by a feeder? Do you want a flashor an IR cam? Give us a price range.

If you dont want to spend over $150, I would suggest the stealth camera I540IR. It gets great battery life. It takes 8 C batteries and it lasted me all season plus more with taking at average 350 pictures a week during the season. You can see some of the pictures from it in some of my threads. If you dont want to even spend over $100 I would suggest the moultrie D40. Its not he best camera ever but for how low of price you can get it then it is excellent.

Lets not "mislead" the guy. The best pics ive ever seen from a D40 are okay at best (very grainy).

For under $150, i would go with a Stealth I590 or I550 (some work great, other suck, its the risk you take)

For mid-level cams you cant beat the I/M-40/60, the Cuddeback Capture flash, or the Scoutguard (personnel fave is the Cuddeback....stay away from the IR model).

For high end cams, go with the Reconyx, a BuckEye cam, Camtrackers or some of the custom cams (IE the bigfoot)

You could also go the home-brew route which im not that familiar with.

Based on price and performance I will vote for the Wildview Xtreme 2,3,4 or 5 cams that you can buy for well under $100.00, my next favorite cam based on price/performance is the Cudde Capture Flash its a very faast cam but just not worth the $179.99 I paid for it. My Moultrie D-40 takes decent pics but not anwhere close to my Wildview cams or my Cudde.
As far as cams the cost $200.00 + dollars I will leave that to the others here because I will no longer spend that kind of money on something that I am going to leave un attended in the woods for 4-6 weeks at time.
