Trail Camera Height

I know in the manual it says 3-4 ft... but someone said that the IR camera's shoudl be different so the deer doesn't see the red lights??

THanks

RE: Trail Camera Height

I am not sure why, but I started at 4' with my Busnell and was WAY high then I moved to 3' and was STILL high... I have it down to 2' off the ground and if you look at the camera it seems like it it pointing slightly downwards but the camera is on the money in this position. I would guess on my camera the lens/etc must be pointing upwards is the reason why I have to mount it so low. So far my camera has not spooked the deer at all... IR or flash... neither has bothered them.

Either mine are waist high or I'll put them as high as I can reach and put a stick behind the top to angle it down. The angle down is mainly when I have troubles with the sun setting it off.

I have a Wildview and I use a stick behind it as well to make it point a little more downward.
I got a Scoutguard for Xmas and I can't wait to see what I've got on it.
I also bought a used Remington Stealth that I''ll check for the first time tomorrow. It'll be almost like Xmas again. LOL
