RE: What do you guys do?
I have the same camera and the same problem. I contacted Bushnell yesterday and the rep told me to send it to them and they would take a look at it. don't think this guy was very knowledgeable of the product since he told me it would probably use less batteries if used indoors.

What would I do? I would call the manufacturer (again) and see if there are any other options. If not, take the thing to Radio Shack and ask them what they would do.
I have never used a battery I threw away using my trail cameras. They take 10 AA bats and I recharge them with a 10 place recharger. They last forever in warm weather. When it's cold, like now, I still use them in one camera but I equip the other with a small 12 volt battery that has never ran out of juice.

I love my I40. It took me a while to figure out not to out it in shady areas, the IR will stay on even after it gets light. But that was a small issue, and all my fault.
The I40 is a solid cam. IMO the best deal for the money rihgt now.

I love the battery usage on my M60 and love the day time pictures but when the deer get too close to the camera at night the flash makes them pretty white. I think I would go with the M40 or I40 because of the current price reduction. If you shop around you should get it for around $100-150. I bought my M60 on sale at Bass Pro for $150 and all I had to do was put the latest firmware on it which was a breeze.
