Which One?

Im wanting to upgrade my trail camera. What i have now is the wildview 3.0 and it does all right when the weather is nice. But when its cold the batteries only last like 4 or 5 days. It was a cheaper camera which is good for me but im wanting to get a better one. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've had great luck with my Moultrie M60 but I'm going to be buying one of the Scout Guard 550's as soon as it supports an SD card larger than 2gb.
I got an email response from HCO yesterday about the sd size and they said that the next model released would support at least a 4gb card.

If a 2gb card is big enough for you then it sounds like it's the camera to have this year.

Here is a recent thread on it:

I have a Moultrie I 40. This is a great camera. Battery life here in wisconsin during the cold winter months has been excellent. I would say I change batteries tops 2 times a year. I have a 2 gb card in mine. They run about 199.99 for the camera and about $15-$20 for the sd card.

That's amazing battery life you're getting WIbuckchaser. How many pictures do you get over a month's time? I have a Moultrie M40. Takes good pictures. Pretty quick trigger time. I put it out with fresh batteries on 9/16 and picked it up 9/26. It had 214 pictures on it and the batteries were down to 80%.

What kind of batteries did you use?
I use Duracell in my M60 and it has taken about 2400 pics and 150 vids and I'm at 60% on batteries.
Don't use cheap or rechargable batteries in your camera.

I had my Stealth Cam Prowler out for 3 months on the same batteries when using it this summer trying to catch a couple of thugs that were breaking in my grandmother's place. The batteries were still good when I took it down but changed them so i know they wouldn't go dead when I wanted them the most. The trigger time is around 2.5 seconds but has a good range and a fairly wide view soI do not mind that to bad.

I would highly recommend the HCO Scoutguard SG550, Ive got two of them already and they are great cameras. In fact I am selling my third one that is brand new, never used.I would try to stay away from the 08' model Moultrie I40's they have gone backwards in quality with a slow 2-3 sec trigger and more whiteouts.. The Scoutguards are very quick trigger (around 1 sec), the size of a soda can, and operate on simple 8 AA batteries that are supposedly good for 2,000+ pics.

Here is a link to my Scoutguard SG550 on ebay if your interested let me know!
