Moultrie D40
Need some camera help , advise. My D40 ate D cell batteries so much that I went to a SLA battery. The people at the battery store told me I needed a 12v sla to replace the 6 D cells. It worked fine last year on sla but this year wont fire up on sla, however does fire on 6 D cells. Called Moultrie and they tell me I should have used only a 9v sla. Wouldnt you think they could put that info in their owners manual in that they furnish you the pin jack to connect.
Anyway, I have voltage thru the pin jack to the 2 contacts in the case that the camera makes contact with. So the problem is in the camera and I dont imagine easily repairable. My question is could I do some creative wiring off the contacts in the D cell compartment to run the sla battery.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Jed

no i dont think you have a problem with the camera. I would say you have a problem with your batteries. I am using D cell batteries and they only last around 3-4 weeks. Not very long. Sometimes I get brand new batteries that last two weeks and sometimes I get some that last a month. Im switching to the re-chargable batteries so it doesn't cost as much and I can charge each battery to the same amount.
