RE: Remington Ghost Dual Flash Camera
dang. This is just sounding worse and worse from all the other forums that I have been reading.... I wonder if I should give them a call and cancel the order, or if Remington is going to make this right some how?
|
RE: Remington Ghost Dual Flash Camera
It's only a good deal if it works well for you. I almost bought one at Wal-Mart until I read the reviews. If it were me, I'd try to cancel and not risk it.

RE: Remington Ghost Dual Flash Camera
I lost a week of scouting time on an impulse buy thanks to this stupid camera... bad reviews are trickling in but they are consistently bad! I purchased mine from Walmart and I had no issues with Virus on the SD Card or CD (both have been reported). I put it out in the field and it took 24 pics. Every single one of them unreadable by the computer... the pic was not recognized as a jpg! My hunting spot is 40 miles away! I don't have time to be wasting on a product that's been delivering results that are as consistently bad as the reviews on this camera suggest... I'm disappointed in Remmington.
Mine has been taken back and replaced by a Stealth Cam 550. No IR, but I'll live... at least it works. |
RE: Remington Ghost Dual Flash Camera
AND, FYI - at the Basspro fall hunting sale the 5mp Stealth Cam was only $99 ($30 off)!
|
RE: Remington Ghost Dual Flash Camera
I saw them at my store and they were $137.

RE: Remington Ghost Dual Flash Camera
Mine doesn't work. Luckily, I saved the receipt because I am returning it. I called the 800 # on the inside of the camera cover & spoke to BA products, the company that makes the camera. I explained how it was acting up, and they told me that they had seen similar issues it seems to take pics whenever it wants too & sometimes not at all). I made sure with the guy I talked to that it was set up correctly & it was. They advised me to return it for another one. Yeah right! I'm not getting burned again. I'm going to just buy another Moultrie. I have 2 Moultries & no major issues with them.

RE: Remington Ghost Dual Flash Camera
Sorry, more details. I agree with bscofield. The pics I got were unreadable. They just showed up as a blank gray screen or a bright white screen. I don't have a 4 wheeler, & I walk about 2 miles back to where I hang my cameras. I lost 2 weeks of scouting b/c I went to check for pics after 2 weeks & had nothing.

If this doesn't produce anything in 2 weeks when I go check it then I'm going to be scouting 2-3 weeks before the season! What a bad situation... what a bad camera! Too bad too, the price was awesome for 5mp IR cam... To be fair, I read on aCam review site (could have been chasinggame.com) that the camo versions that were arriving in some stores where working properly. I have not seen this confirmed by anyone yet... |
RE: Remington Ghost Dual Flash Camera
Everyone,
The camo version has been looked at by chasingame, and the verdict is that it has given up "the ghost". Blessings.....Pastorjim |
RE: Remington Ghost Dual Flash Camera
TOO BAD...
WELP... IF IT LOOKS TO BE GOOD TO BE TRUE... |
RE: Remington Ghost Dual Flash Camera
I bought this camera at Wally World on a whim (before reading all the bad reviews) and I ended up taking it back and getting the Moultrie.
The IR pics were okay (decent quality, black and white) but the daytime pics and the incandescent flash pics were HORRIBLE. The color was way off, and the camera resets the time and date if you turn the power off. It's not a good camera at all. I like my Moultrie for $100 much better. Here's a daytime and nightime pic with the Remington cam: ![]() ![]() |
RE: Remington Ghost Dual Flash Camera
i purchased the remington ghost about a month ago. i only take photos at night using the flash. it has worked great so far. the only problem i'm having is battery life. i have been using energizer d battery. the camera will only last 4 days at most before it stops taking photos(about 100 photos). i dont believe this is normal. i have never used a game camera before and thought this would be a fine choice for my first one.
any idea on battery life? thanks, jimmy |
RE: Remington Ghost Dual Flash Camera
I recommend you put your money towards another cam such as the scoutguard 550 or a moultrie i-40 or the new capture cudde. All around $200

RE: Remington Ghost Dual Flash Camera
I bought one at Wal Mart after my I-40 was stolen. Overall I'm very pleased with it given the price. The only downside with this camera is the color of the pictures during the day. They almost have a purple tint to them. The upsidewould be the battery life, i get around 500 or more pictures with only 4 d-cell batteriescomared to my I-40 that had 6 or 8( not exactly sure ).The display panel is really user friendly. The trigger speed, in my opinion is much faster than the I-40.

RE: Remington Ghost Dual Flash Camera
I had problems with this camera the first few days, but kept working with it. It takes good pictures as you say, mostly black and white but resolution looks really good. The battery life definetly is a plus, and still going. I had over 300 plus pictures for 4 weeks and still had 85% battery life. Very user friendly, and set up was very easy I thought. I have seen alot of posts stating they hated the camera and took it back. I honestly was going too but gave it a few days and it worked fine. For the price I am seeing, $109?, I would definetly buy another.

RE: Remington Ghost Dual Flash Camera
hmmmmmm I was gonna buy a ghost the week. now im not so sure.

RE: Remington Ghost Dual Flash Camera
What I was saying was that the I40 uses 2 or 4 more batteries compared to the Remmington with, in my opinion, the same amount of battery life. They're both great camera's, i just didn't want to spend the extra 100.00$ on the I40 and have it stolen agian, otherwise....

RE: Remington Ghost Dual Flash Camera
Wow.. Sorry to hear about the bad luck everyone has had with this cam.... I purchased one from Walmart thisearly Sep2008 I put it out in the field and wow! it works totally awesome.
I noticed that if you set it up as IR it's IR for DAY and NIGHT that is why your day shot colorslook off. I set it for both and found that the flash was the best. IR is not really needed if you set it for one picture only. I have found if you set it for 3 or more pics it will spook the deer. Also cover up the red and green led light with tape. I have had this in the field for almost 2 months now and have had no issues just awesome shots of bucks - even sparing - I live in Michigan and the weather is ruff out there but so far this camera has held up flawlessly. I changed the batteries only once. |
RE: Remington Ghost Dual Flash Camera
Man batteries is my current issue with my new cam...after taking back the Remmington I got a 5MP stealth cam... goes through a set of batteries each week! Someone tell me this ain't normal! It's only taking 50 pics or so...

RE: Remington Ghost Dual Flash Camera

RE: Remington Ghost Dual Flash Camera
A buddy of mine works at a local co-op here. They sale the Ghost and I was gonna buy one, but he told me that half of what they have sold the people have returned them. Numerous problems with them. I not so sure of buying one now. Maybe they will work the bugs out of them.

RE: Remington Ghost Dual Flash Camera
Bought this camera and set it up in an open field near my home. Day one 235 pictures of my yard. Brought it to food plot left it setup for a week...235 pictures of my grass growing....moved it away from any possible limb or anything that could trigger it...235 pictures of the wind. No where in the directions to set the sensitivity of it. Waste of time to bring back to store as it took me 30 minutes to set the dang thing up...best spot for it is in the campfire unless someone has any suggestions

RE: Remington Ghost Dual Flash Camera
by the way, camera has taken over 750 pictures with the same 4 d duracell batteries and indicator still shows full charge,...just wait till my sledge hits it....

any idea on battery life? thanks, jimmy I know this is a long time post, but I know that if you use duracell batteries it will last longer I have had mine in the woods for about 2 months. Also I was told that you have to set the camera north or south away from the sun so it does not catch the shadow setting or rising. Dont if you cover up the red and green lights on the camera will that mess the pictures up? I am new to this so I am just wondering if this is how you post. I have a few good pics also it may just be some peoples camera. |
