Question..

I set a camera up today near some apple trees that deer are starting to warnder under. I use a 5 gallon bucket of small apples I had raked up from my lawn to help hold them there. My question is how high or low do you normally set your camera at? I want to see if I can get some decent pics with it. Also if I can get some decent pics from there I plan on moving it to a new location where some piebald deer have been hanging around. 1 of the piebald deer is almost all white and had started growing a small rack this past spring and would like to get a close up of it. Thanks for any help on this question..

RE: Question..

I set all my cams from knee to mid thigh with the exception of over a scrape. Then 6-8 ft as all my cams are whiteflash and I don't want to take a chance spooking a mature buck.

RE: Question..

Thanks everyone as I am thinking right now I maybe a little bit high, so I will check earlier than planned so I can adjust to where it should be.

Good luck with your placement, and play with it some. I don't think you can get too low or too close. Makes for an interesting perspective. I try to stay inside 10 feet for distance myself.

RE: Question..

I just got back from resetting it and I moved it to a closer location. I had the deer come in last night but they were out of range except for 1 that I only got a pic from it's front leg back to the rear as it was moving by. I set out about 3 more gallons of apples as they had eaten most of the ones I had left yesterday. I hope to have some great pics to share on monday though I am thinking it's mostly does and lambs. Thanks again all.
