Looks like a deer. The neck-head area looks different because it was probably moving when the picture was taken. Maybe the pic was zoomed in alot and the deer and leaves etc. appears grainy to me.

A buddy of mine took it on a his farm in southern ILL and gave me a pic and I had to scan it to put it on here, he is going to email me the original pic and I will see if it is any better, plus it was a 1.3 mp wildview camera, not the greatest, I know I borrowed it to him...

we have sika deer here on the eastern shore of MD. They are the smallest member of the Elk family but that sure is a long way for one those to travel......It does resemble a sika hind however

It looks like a Whitetail with some melanism and/or possibly some piebald characteristics. Whitetails have lots of different "looks" - someties the camera can exagerate them too.

On year - we had a yearling buck with an almost black head - even the velvet was very very dark -
We never heard of it shot - and we never saw it again - but we video taped it on the mid 90s.

Loosk like awhitetail to me thats multing..... possibly some color phase its going through. Ears arent big enough to be an elk but yet its also shapped like a roe deer but ill lean towards a fat yearling thats multing.

looks like a possible bi-gender white tail with more female caracteristics.
