D Cell Vs. 6 volt

What would be the difference in thesetypes for game cams? Besides the obvious (batteries). Does one have better battery life? Or what would be the advantages for one over the other?

not sure how many other companies use the 6volt rechargable battery, but the Stealth has one. When i use it on a their digital cam i390 i get about 30-45 days use. I have not used the D cell batteries in it, but i don't think they will last that long and two they are usually not rechargable.

I have a Stealth I390 and got six months life out of alkaline D size batteries. I have an Xtreme 5 that gets much better life with the rechargeable 12 volt battery.

This is why I've found that there is not one answer to this question. I've had cameras where the alkaline batteries gave longer battery life than rechargeable batteries and I have cameras where the rechargeable batteries gave longer life than the alkaline batteries.

So, I guess my answer is that it depends on the camera.

I have 2 moultries that use the 6 volt. 1 lasts pretty good but the other camera sucks it dry in a couple weeks. I asked about the 6 volts on another forum I'm in and a guy gave me a good idea that I'm gonna try. Get a 6 volt motorcycle battery and use it. Its rechargeable and its not that much more expensive if you buy the smaller 6 volt batteries. Its an idea for ya. Ijust bought a 3rd moultrie with the D cell batteries so I have yet to see how long that lasts.
