Anyone use solar chargers?

Do they work pretty good? How do you run the wires from the charger to the battery? Do you just shut the door on the wires or make a modification by drilling, silicone, etc?

RE: Anyone use solar chargers?

i have a solar charger that i have never used. my Moultrie 3.1 is good on batteries. one 6 volt battery last me about 3 months so i never hooked up my solar charger. it all depends on how many pictures your camera is going to take, how many pictures at night (flash uses more power) and what type of camera you're going to use.

Yes, I have used solar panels on my game cameras and feeders and they work real well. On my Camera I just made a notch at the bottom of the case so that the door didn't pinch the wires. They usually come with alligator clips attached to connect to the battery. Good luck.

My Moultrie 3 has external connectors for a solar panel. Otherwise, you could do what you said and drill a hole or squeeze the wires in the door. The panel keeps my battery fully charged.

i have the moultree with the 6 volt charger. I drilled a hole in the bottom of the unit, and siliconed it closed after I ran the wires. Ran a plug outside of the unit to hook it up. I dont really even use it, everytime I bring my camera to check pics, I just put it on my 6/12v boat battery charger.
