Default changing of coat

got this pic of a doe already changing her coat ., is this about the time of year that they do this ., or is this early ., i also have 2 bucks changing also .,

i have deer pretty much all summer with patchy discolored hair just like that

I've got a few pics from this year. I think its about a 3 week window for most deer. Fawns seem last - but I've already seen a few changing now.

Here's the first buck I had molting his coatthis season - 8-16

That's fire damage!
No all of mine (mine as in on my property not ownership) have changed coat colors too over the last month or so.

i have 2 doe already full winter coat, a few more not far behind and the bucks are starting to change... fawns aren't yet....

must be a northern thing, never seen that before. ofcourse here in Florida it never gets cold

It is a northern thing. In the summer, they have a light colored coat to reflect the sun and keep them cooler, then in the fall, they shed the light fur and shift to the dark 'absorb the sun' coat for the winter. It's also better camouflage in the dark winter woods.
