Looking forward to hearing your feedback, there seems to be a few fans of these cams here on the forum. Images have been decent, especially for the price!

I'm using a Wildview v2 I believe. The only problem I have with it is that the photos do not have a date and time on them. Besides that it's been a great buy for only $70 at Gander.

RE: good purchase?

I think the wildview 4.0 is a great purchase. I don't have experience w/ that model specifically but I bet it performs like the others. You got an extremely reliable camera that's easy to use, has a great sensing range, takes pretty good pictures, decent flash rangeand terrible trigger time - for a GREAT PRICE! If you can live w/ the trigger time it's a great camera!! Probably best to keep it over a feeder, food plot, or mineral/salt lick. If you need it on a trail make sure to have the cam aimed down the trail (not across it) so it has some time to take a pic.

One thing though - get the stealth 12 volt battery kit for $37. Might want to pick up an extra 12volt sla battery at batteries plus. This camera sucks down disposable batteries fast! I've had the 12 volts last 3+ weeks (still running when I took it out of the woods) and take 800 pictures. Over time you'll definitely save money that way.

Have fun!

now im disappointed....... found a camo wildview 4.0 on eaby!!!! cabelas does not offer a camo version.. i want the camo one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

RackLuster 06-21-2007 06:54 AM

RE: good purchase?

well even though you didn't get camo, the wildview is a lot easier to conceal then just about any cam (especially those monstrous moultries). A lot of people put camo tape on their cams and that seems to work pretty good.

I got a camo one at Gander

RE: good purchase?

well I checked my WV 4 and wasn't too happy. only 6 pics (3 events) and they were all of me setting up. I had a Cudde and Bushnell set up at same spot and got 3 different events on the Cudde and 5 or 6 on the bushnell. I also didn't think the pic quality was very good. I moved the cam so it was right next to the other cams to see if it was just the location. we'll see.

For the money I think the wildview brand is hard to beat...This pic was taken with the wildview 2.0

RE: good purchase?

I'm surprised about the wildview not getting pictures. In the past, I've seen the wildviews get more pictures then other cams, especially cuddeback. cuddebacks are notorious for their narrow sensing range.

I returned my moultrie d40 fora wildview 4.0 today. I hope it works as good as my 2.0, but with better pics of course.

RE: good purchase?

well i got some pictures today... really couldnt tell ya how the quality was cause i put the cam facin the sun an every pic has the sun bluring out half the pic... i could see there was der though [:-]...guess ill jus have to move it around a lil bit.... anyone else have no patience(sp) with there camera... i see that i got 5 pics i wanna bring er home an see what i got... bugs me to no there pics on there an i can look at them yet.lol

im gettin to many pictures of nothing.. first time i thought it was the wind... cam on a small tree blowing it around makin it snap pictures... now its still doin it an there no wind... i surely dont think shadows on the groundfrom cloud movement would keep settin it off..

This might be the slow trigger time. By the time the camera reacts to movement, the subject is out of the frame.

Had this problem with mine.

RE: good purchase?

nah i dont think its slow trigger time cause its takin not stop pictures in the middle of the day in 90 degreee heat i know there aint nothing there.... i did catch a lil branch up in the very top corner sometimes it would be in the pic some times it wouldnt so im hoopin maybe thats what settin it off im gonna trim it an find out.... i had 90 pics yesterday an 2 deer the rest were nothing???????

Windwalker7 07-15-2007 02:04 PM

RE: good purchase?

The cameras also sense heat. Mine will take pictures if aimed toward the setting or rising sun.

The heat somehow sets it off.

MdDave 07-15-2007 03:03 PM

RE: good purchase?

its not set tawrds rising or settin sun either i learned that one that hard way to... its either the limb deal or its catchin the clouds shadows move(which i highly doubt)... seems like its only day time to... i had 3 or 4 night shots that showed nothin also.. or its jus a really trigger happy camera,lol... ill figure it out one way or the other....

I put my new one out over the weekend and have to say I am much happier with it. Got 30 pics or so and like the quality. Must be my first one just had a bad sensor or something (??).

MdDave 07-17-2007 09:03 PM

RE: good purchase?
