smoked clear plastic for moultrie ir

i see that most people are trying to use the plastic over the ir emitters, is this suppose to make the ir so its not that bright? and where is everybody putting this on the outside of the camera with tape and what kind of tape is everybody using?

I have a moultrie IR camera I have never heard of anyone putting anything over the lens, the IR flash is pretty bright, where did you hear this!

Over on the Chasingame forums, they're talking about it. Apparently the IR isbright enough to be noticable, so by placing colored plexiglass over the IR's on the outside, you're then toning down the brightness. The thought is.... less redness will be seen by the animals & possibly by someone who might walk by. They have samples of before & after as well.
