My wheat and oat mix around my house is going NUTZ! Too bad I don't have many deer to come around and keep it mowed down. [:o]

Looks like they are doing their best to keepyours eaten though!

Next thing we plant we are going to fence off a little part of what we plant and see how tall whatever we planted would be if the deer were not eating it.

Gaugehow much the deer are eating the plotsis prettymuch the idea if what I said didn't make sense. Ya, it started taking off a couple of weeks ago. Where's all the deer tokeepyour wheat mowed down?

I have 42 acres in Lubbock county that I live on and planted 5 acres of wheat and oats last year just to see what would happen. Lubbock county doesn't have a deer season and there aren't a lot around, but I live on a finger of the caprock and do occasionally see a deer. In the 6 previous years I've seen a total of 5 deer and this year I saw over 20 including 12 at one time so my food plot did some good, but all the deer seemed to just be moving through for the most part and apart from a whitetail buck and doe none stuck around longer than a day or two and they only stuck around for a week consistently.

After these last big rains my wheat and oats are more than knee high right now.

That is tall... where we live I have seen a few wheat fields that tall... we have onlyseen 5 deer in the past 14yrs where we live so at least you are doing better than we are.
