Default deer having sixth sense for cameras

i checked one of my cameras today, had quite a few deer tracks leading to the camera was all excited then about 35 yards from camerathe deer all veered off. the camera has never been in this spot before but i swear they have a sick sense. has anybody else had this happen to them?

no i haven't but if the deer were hunted hard they may be staying awy form the human sent. you could try moving it or even cutting an apple in half rubbing your hands on it and then rubbing the aple sent on the camera

I wouldn't worry too much about it. There could be many reasons these deer veered off on another trail.

You could take precautions to limit your smell around your cams but honestly I don't do it myself.

I have never had any scent problems around our cameras, we usually get pics the day after the camera is set out at the latest. If you are out in the area alot checking the camera I could see it being a deterent though. We usually get our better pics when we aren't on our property, with that said we still get pictures while we are there though.

I have had this happen. Especially if you are putting out a new bait pile. I put my camera out on a trail before and put a mineral block just off of it. No pictures but plenty of tracks coming from both directions on the trail that turned around and went back. If they see something different than they are accustomed to it will take them a few days to adjust.

I have never had a problem with them seeing the camera, flash or camera it's slef.all deer may be a little spooky if the sent is to often and wide spread.I have watched them look right at the camera when it flashes and go back to what they were doing.

got a couple pic's. here you might like to see. the first one is of the buck as he came in to check out the two does, then starts to eat.

the second is of the same buck just a couple min. after the camera took his pic.I waited till I saw the flash go off.

That now...is Cool! Awesome. I did the same thing with my 35mm deer cam on a nice 8pt 4 years ago. There was a camera flash then a muzzle flash.
