Default Camera over bear bait?

I will be setting up a camera over my bear bait and want to know what I need to do to keep the bears from tearing it off the tree. The camera isa Wildview Extreme II. There are several branches that extend over my bear barrel has anyone ever mounted ther camera to shoot down vertically from a stout branch?

Never tryed that but I don't think you will have a problem with haveing the bears riping off your camera, but that is just what I was thinking.

NOT storing bacon in the camera would be a good idea.

Just from what I have experienced as that if get a few bears packed into one area at the same time anything that has any type of scent or is not natural to the environment is getting sniffed, licked, scratched, and/or eaten.

i had a stealth cam 35 mm get swatted a couple years ago by a bear, and have since sprayed my cameras down with scent killer after i set them up. also, make sure to set up your camera before putting out bait, rather than setting the bait and then touching the camera, risking getting bait scent on your camera. ive also heard that if you rub the hottest/spiciest sauce or peppers on it, the bears wont touch em. hope this helps, be sure to post the pics when you get em!

Get a bear cage or make one. I highly reccomend it!!! I put one on mine while i have it out for deer now since the bears get mad because of the flash and they smash it off the tree. So save some money and buy a bear cage you'll be happy you did it!
