RE: Shooter or not?
I would normally take him, but here in Texas, most of our counties have gone to a 13" minimum(unless it is a spike) inside spread. That means the inside spread has to be outside of the ears, in alert position. I know it will help in the long run, but now I have to get the buck to look towards me before I can estimate his spread to decide if I want to shoot or not. I'm sure there will be some who kill a buck, and get fined for it being an inch to narrow. Hope it's not me[&:]

RE: Shooter or not?
I'd let him go, but after 4 years of letting nice little 7-8 pointers go, I have yet to see the benefits the following year. Oh well maybe this year. I am starting to get some of my neighbors to come around. I think when they start letting them pass I"should" see some results.

Normally, if I have to question myself I let them go another year. The problem I have now is there has been a lot of trespassing going on. Only one of my neighbors hunts but he is new to the sport and I think he would take anything that walks in front of him. I was like that when I first started 25 years ago. The deer in my avatar was my first one. I guess I will know if he walks in frot of me this year.

Always look at the body to tell if he is mature.
Horns can be real nice, but ask yourself beforeevery hunt!
Managed land Or Not
I wouldKeep him around for breeding,I love theG-2 fork
He looks to be3 His head shape and colors and body will tell you this.
If it was me I would take him after rut next year.

That is a tough question if no one else is gonna take him this year i would let him walk and see what his is like next year or maybe the year after, i might just have to take him in bow season but if it was rifle he would pry live to see another day.
