Looking at a nice rifle that comes in either Flint lock or a percussion, Which do you consider to be the most accurate for hunting ?

percussion for me. Spend a lot of time with a flintlock and get to know it inside and out and it will be just as accurate.

Actually the ignition type has nothing to do with accuracy. Given the right load either will be accurate. Now the flint, if not tuned or primed correctly or you're not used to shooting one does have a slight to long delay where as the percussion is more similar to a center fire rifle. The minor delay, even one ever so slight will cause the shooter to move the sights a tad resulting in "poorer accuracy". But that's the shooter's fault not the rifle's.
Another thing you may want to consider is where you're going to be hunting. Here in PA you can use either flint or percussion (or inline) during the early season but flintlock only during the late season after Christmas. Check your regs.

Hi ,All Bronco22000 , has it right ,If you want quick results then a perc rifle is the way however if you are interested in getting the best out of a rifle then you could go with a flinter .. the slow ignition seen on most flinters is nearly always due to the owner not bothering to set the rifle up properly that is see that the internal parts of the lock do not rub on the lock plate or other parts , that the touch hole is the correct size that the flint sparks properly and that the sparks fall in the pan are a few of the things that need seeing to and once set up the rifle will have no detectable delay and be as accurate as the shooter wants it to be .. As my old friend Homer Dangler said all a perc rifle has to do is bust a cap .. If you want to shoot out a ways the bigger the ball the better 60 and upwards for both perc and flint ... Rob
