Tennessee Valley Muzzleloading emailed me today and said the rifle was in the mail. She took a picture of it for me.
It is an Early Virginia Model .58 caliber Flintlock. It has a 36" barrel not swamped. Chambers lock, Davis trigger, and a 1-56 twist Colerain Barrel. I ordered the iron hardware and told them to brown that hardware the same color as the barrel. I do like the looks of it. I kind of learned that all that German Silver on the other rifle is a real chore to keep it clean and shining. So this is a more common folk type rifle. Next one will be a .62 or a .36. I have not made up my mind.

Something about those large caliber rifles. Once you start shooting them they get under your skin.
I did discuss a smaller caliber rifle. They have .32, .36, and .40 caliber. For some reason that .40 caliber is interesting. But then a ..62 caliber with the 1-70 twist would be a hoot to shoot.

I'd go with a .62 if it were my choice. I always had a passion for a big bore, full stocked Hawken style rifle in .62 caliber. But because you have a .58 on the way, that .40 might be a good addition to your collection. I've heard that the .40 caliber rifles were (are) some of the most accurate shooters ever built.
I like the plain "poor boy" look of that new .58!
