New Arrival - Traditions Hawken Woodsman Percussion

Fresh off the big brown truck!

Just a sample picture. This sucker if BEEFY compared to my Hawken Woodsman Flintlock version. I'll have to ask about that and see if they changed up the design a bit.

Beefy is good!

Time to inspect it for any damage and then bed the tang/trigger.

Looks good! Got a picture of the whole thing?

cayugad 07-18-2016 07:36 PM

Very nice. Do they offer it in a flintlock?

MountainDevil54 07-18-2016 07:43 PM

yep I have the flintlock version and used it on my hog hunt back in march with Falcon.

That's a nice pair of MLs MD. Can't wait to see a range report. Not that I need another ML but just to read some reports. I had pulled my back out some time last week and it finally got to feeling better. I had my stuff packed up last night to head to the range this morning before the heat rolled in. But darn it I rolled over last night and aggravated it again. Hurts like heck. Anyone who has a bad lower back knows what its like. Those that don't I hope they never get one.

It's so aggravating when you injure yourself exercising. (At my age I consider rolling over in bed exercise.)

You boys are just to old for that "Rolling Around" in bed. :D

Once more I can not stress how important it is to tear down your new muzzleloader and FULLY CLEAN IT! This was just from the lock and trigger assembly.

See all those tiny metal flakes? Run that through a gun for a while and you'll start to notice some wear.

super_hunt54 07-19-2016 02:14 PM

Doesn't matter if I buy it new or used, I strip ANY firearm that just came to me down to it's barest of bones and thoroughly clean it then lube up and reassemble. I don't care if it came from a top manufacturer or not, they ALL seem to leave a mess when they make them! I even do that with just parts! Like trigger assemblies, Bolt carrier groups, barrels, hell I even go over new stocks with a green cloth over all the inletting then blow it out with dry air. You are dead on correct in that advise MD!
