Yep, that is one fine firearm.

This mother will shoot baby!!!

I took 2 shots with my shoot out lube and round balls so I can break the barrel in. I'll let the pics do the story telling!

beautiful trigger and the recoil with 70gr JSG SP & Pyrodex Select was nothing! Both JSG and Select impacted at the same level.

Can't wait till tomorrow when I send some 350 bor locks down range!

Here we go!

First 2 shots out of the brand new rifle at 50 yards with 70gr jim shockeys gold super powder 2fg, .015 patch lubed with shoot out and .490" round balls.

Made some adjustments and then switched over to pyrodex select to see how it would group.

You can see the crappy light I had to deal with, but surprisingly, the sights did very well in low light conditions.

Right now I have 348gr powerbelt flat points, 350gr federal bor lock bullets and 160gr control fracture thor sabots to try tomorrow. All will be shot with 90gr pyrodex select at 50 yards.

MountainDevil54 07-20-2016 10:35 AM

AMAZING day on the range! I am loading up again with a max load of 110gr 2fg pyrodex select and re-try those 160gr Thors once more.

When I pulled the trigger on the last shot, I knew I saw some orange and called it :(

Looks like a keeper. That's some nice shooting MD. The 160's look to be shooting extremely well in that rifle.

Semisane 07-20-2016 04:35 PM

You're halfway there Devil. There are two great things in life; a loving wife who cooks well and a good looking gun that shoots well.

That is some fine shooting.

They did beef up the stock on the percussion gun and I can't understand why.

The flintlock you hunted with here is a very nice handling rifle.
