My Testimony At The MAA Meeting
 

Hello, my name is Semisane. I've been a member of Muzzleloader Addicts Anonymous for many years. I attend all of the meetings. It does not help.

As hard as I try, I cannot seem to abstain from purchasing muzzleloaders.

I admit it - I am weak. Yesterday I bought another one I don't really need. HELP ME!

Very cool rifle. And with that twist it should be a round ball wizard shooting machine.

And I know your pain. I suffer from the same disease.

Boy that is an oddity! But the bore looks to be in excellent condition. I can't wait to see a shooting report. That is if you can pry yourself off the couch in this heat.

Lots of people think they are ugly. To me, simplicity is beauty, and these are about as simple as they come. Three moving parts, the hammer, the trigger, and the spring trigger guard.

To top it off, they are a uniquely American innovation.

You know I like peep sights, and this one is a dandy with three aperture sizes.

That peep was the first thing I noticed. I saw the "adjustable" aperture right away.

Shouldn't that be MLAA. Muzzle Loader is 2 words ya know :D

Actually those H&A underhammers were rather common in my neck of the woods when I was in high school. They were made by Numrich Arms in West Hurley NY, about 2-1/2 hrs. east of where I live. They're getting tough to find, especially in good condition. I know a few fellas who still have theirs that were purchased back in the early 70's.

Take a look at the title of this forum.

Now type "muzzle loading forums" (two words) into your search engine, then type in "muzzleloading forums" (one word) into your search engine and compare the results.

Looks like the Coppertone girl finally grew up!! You know us Ol' timers are probably the only ones who remember that ad!

Now it's funny that you bring up the Coppertone Girl BPS. It just goes to illustrate how our society has changed. Everyone got a kick out of that ad and no one was upset. Today it might draw complaints of borderline "kiddie porn".

Anyway, you're right. The Coppertone Girl has grown up and is as cute as ever.

I remember those ads and the slogan "Tan don't burn - get a Coppertone Tan". But it was a slogan that was more of a little tune.

I think I finally have an answer to the question I have asked in the past, but was never answered.
From looking at the picture -


it appears there are 2 notches in the hammer for the trigger sear to engage, providing a half-cock.
I have never seen a underhammer action in the half-cock position and wondered if they had one.

I like that sight, too! Looks very simple, but functional!

In this day and age, even thinking the wrong think or say something that can even be considered wrong, and someone is going to be offended. When did American's grow such a thin skin? But so far, no one complained to me about it.

That is what I would call, lovely!!! The young lady I mean.

What is that rear sight? I have an old Sears and Roebuck 50 cal that I want to put a peep sight on.

I can't help you there Coalforge. It has no name or numbers on it. Probably discontinued long ago. But it's a great sight and I would buy a half dozen for other guns if someone would make them.
