Wow what's going on

Is the love dying? I haven't been on this site for about a week and nothing new has been posted! I can't wait to get back home to PA and do some shooting. I'm here in McKinney TX roasting my buns off. It was 104* today!! I go outside and turn into a sweat factory. But I got my tile job for my daughter done (almost 600 sq ft). I'll leave the grouting to my son-in-law cause my knees are killing me.
I assume Hoyt has my .54 flintlock barrel done so I'll be looking forward to shooting that in addition to my .58.
Bad news is that I didn't draw my Maine moose tag but I have a 3 day hunt in NC for deer and hogs in October.

cayugad 06-16-2016 08:30 PM

We've had a LOT of rain lately. Which is a good thing considering how dry it was in the forest. Then you add in yard work, wood cutting, and gardens ... I really have not shot much this month. Although that is going to change maybe tomorrow. Unless I go fishing.

Semisane 06-16-2016 08:38 PM

Ninety-eight degrees here today with 74% humidity. Almost died cutting the lawn. Going fishing Saturday. My typical long shooting session just would not be enjoyable, and it's too far to the hunting lease for just a short session or two.

MountainDevil54 06-16-2016 09:33 PM

To damn hot to shoot.

toytruck 06-17-2016 07:32 AM

Besides being wet an hot, I fell an jammed my right hand. Its a wonder I didn't break a bone, can not make a fist or hold a fishing rod so no way I can stand the recoil of a gun. Did it last saturday so it should be good in a month I hope, then it will be too hot for sure!

Sucks getting old!!

bronko22000 06-17-2016 03:48 PM

Well it seems the heat is all over except in my home state of PA. Calls to home say the temps are still in the upper 50s to low 60s at night and maybe reaching 80 during the day. Not too bad for shooting. And if I head up north to the cabin it should be cooler (but possibly more humid). I'll find out, not this weekend but maybe next weekend.

MountainDevil54 06-18-2016 12:42 AM

I got 4 shots in this evening with my 58 hawken. Gotta love the smoke of that jim shockeys gold during the late evening! I just shot some plinker loads for fun. Maybe tomorrow break out the lead pot and lead stash and start casting some more ammo.

BarnesAddict 06-18-2016 02:23 AM

Its that time of year I guess. Lots of the same around here: warm, yard work, vacations, etc.

However the wife decided I'd been writing to many checks for something that I enjoyed. She doesn't shoot, so she decided she'd mix things up for something WE would do together. The check she wrote was much larger than those I've written............

Now to find a way to mount the gun case and shoot'n box ;)

Semisane 06-18-2016 07:14 AM

Can't catch a break. Too hot to shoot so I went fishing.

The white dot on the screen capture below is where my son an I were fishing when the weather started building all around us. Twenty minute run back to the boat launch in increasing rain with lightning strikes in every direction. Scary as all get out.

The screen capture is 30 minutes after we got the boat on the trailer.

Wel looks like you had the hotspot all to yourself.

:D

Glad you are safe!

yep if you was a young'n, you would have bought a dodge challenger like my nephew did LOL.

I tried to talk him into a jeep, but this one will do.

Truth is young'ns just don't think ahead. Its a tough learning experience you only get over time (age).

Wish it hadn't taken so long to smarten up. I should have bought 2 or 3 of the Superbirds and just stored all of them until retirement. Maybe a Cuda too, along with at least one GTO and my Hurst Olds 442. My problem was I was drag race'n them and tearing them up. I'd give up a lot to have that 442 back!

Young's probably don't know about those autos.......

cayugad 06-18-2016 01:17 PM

It was 86 degrees. Like a fool wanting something to do, I washed and waxed the truck. Boy was that a chore. Wore me out!! But the truck looks nice. I was going to go fishing on the little lake next to my house, but there were four boats out there, and three of them in and around my favorite spot to fish. So ... we washed the truck.

Blackpowdersmoke 06-20-2016 12:08 PM

I sympathize with all of you... been sittin' in the same boat. 91 degrees here yesterday and 93 this afternoon and I live in the northern, mountainous part of PA that's supposed to be cooler (yea right)!! Been wanting to do some shooting but have passed for the same reasons as the rest of you. I'll bet we've had less than 1" of rain in the past 6 weeks. My garden is suffering, our trout streams are too low and too warm to fish, and it's too darned hot to spend a day out on open water in a boat. My yard needs mowing as I type but I'm gonna wait til the sun hits the horizon before I hop on my Xmark zero turn.

MD... I haven't forgotten you Bud, I'll give a full and honest report of the products I got from you when I sit down and spend the time shooting and using them. As for the rest of my brethren here, grab a cold drink, pick a shady spot to relax and just take it easy til things cool down a bit... no one needs a heat stroke!!

Spent the day on our beach 91 degrees. In the shade of a tree and with plenty of cold drinks. Nice wind though. :guiness:

Nice Slingshot Barnes. I've been eyeing them myself. Semi, next time please look at the weather report. I don't want to see you getting fried by a lightening bolt!
I'm back from TX and working on all this insurance stuff again. What a PITA!

WARNING: Unless you want to write a big check, don't ride in one!
Wife says, "No gun rack."

Semisane 06-22-2016 07:08 AM

Semi, next time please look at the weather report.
Bronko, I did. I did. The report was for scattered T-storms in the late evening. That system blew up out of nowhere. Had it developed 100 South in the Gulf we would likely have had a small hurricane. The whole system was rotating counter-clockwise.

Wife says, "No gun rack."
BA, perhaps she doesn't want people to be saying "nice rack" when you guys pull up to a group of other riders.

super_hunt54 06-22-2016 09:50 AM

Been nasty humid and hot here. Every time it cools down enough to get my fat rear out to shoot, it rains!!

BA, who says yer too old for a Harley? I'm 70 and I ride mine all the time! Them Slingers seem nice and all but if I want to ride in a sporty car I'll hop in the vette!

Rode bikes before I was old enough to have a drivers license and I'm 65. Went through the dirt bike craze too. My first Harley came in 1972, which didn't last long stock. Completely molded it, raked it 21" over Fury twisted steel, painted it with "flip flop" colors, then had a mural of Pandora's Box painted on the gas tank and Zeus on the oil tank. Yup, it was chopped. However, too many stupid people had been breeding and most of them tried to kill me with their cars. My last ride put the "fear of God" in me and I swore it was the last. Sold it and been bike free since. You can have the Vette, I'll keep the Slingshot ;) Its more fun.......

HA!!! You obviously haven't had the fun time of driving a 63 with a 427 stuffed in it!! It's a mod with Strut susp. and ind. rear w. coilovers. Disc all around with a ford 9 inch chunk with 386 GR. and Borg Warner 5 speed. Needless to say, it's a beast!! Nor will the wife let me out with it alone. It also happens to be one hell of a chick magnet :D I did have to mod the interior a bit so I wouldn't have to get out a shoe horn to fit in it! Those things were NOT built for anyone over 6 feet!
