1000 yard Muzzleloading Match - Oak Ridge, TN
 

The 29th Long Range Muzzleloading Match held now once each year in Oak Ridge, TN is in the books. Easter weekend wasn't the best for participation, but 25 shooter from 13 states were represented.
10 consecutive shots for score from each distance; 200, 300, 600 & 1000 yards totaled for the Aggravated score over 2 days.
Rifles are traditional percussion Long Range Match Rifle configuration weighing under 12 pounds (Original match rules of the 1800's were under 10 pounds).
Targets were standard NRA HP targets.
I apologize as I'm new here and haven't figured out how to post the score sheet (If someone can, PM me and I'll send you the spreadsheet).
As usual, scores were really tight until 1000.

Really interesting to look at the common powder and gun types. That must have been a great match to watch with some great shooters and incredible guns. 1000 yds wow.:cool2:

I've always preached that real BP is the most accurate powder for a muzzleloader.

Is this competition restricted to BP only, or can subs be used? I see nothing but BP was used.

If memory serves Pete, sub's aren't allowed on that particular competition. Real BP only. And notice the real BP most commonly used was me Swiss :D

Ok, I sort of figured that was the case. Yes, Swiss is the best if you can get past the price. I used a bunch of it in years past.


I'd like to see the results for a competition that allows BP and subs. Just to see what is used.
