Congratulations Ron. Dedication pays off. I don't believe in luck. My definition of "luck" is that point in time when preparation and opportunity come together.
Way to go.

Luck exists Bronko!
Luck is when you and your still loaded rifle returns to your vehicle - you open the rear hatch and before you grab for the gun case there, an 8-pt buck exits the thick woods and starts walking across the dirt-track road 50 yards away, allowing you the necessary time to harvest it.

Congrats Ron on your harvest and award.

Thanks guys. The thing that made this hunt so special for me was building my antelope rifle and getting to use it on one. Being about to gt two animals in one year with it was icing on the cake.

That's great!!!

Congratulations Ron, it certainly must have been a wonderful season for you!

GB - The preparation was that your rifle was loaded and you practiced shooting your rifle. The opportunity was the buck walking out.

My biggest question is how the hell did you get with in range? I thought these were long range animals??? Living here on the east coast, we don't have any of these four legged speed demons!!

Congrats my friend!!!

We have used decoys and water hole sets. This one I used a water hole set up.

Congrats, Ron! That's a dandy of a buck.

The last time I chased them was in CO with Archery equipment. I planned all year to hunt water holes and go figure, the week before I showed up rained for about 5 days and there was water everywhere. Needless to say, I went home empty handed. But hunting them over water is both boring and exiting at the same time.
