Ready to cast!
Now that I have the correct .530" ball mold in and ready to go, Once I finish up my lunch, I'll be out in the shop firing up the lead pot and start casting so we can get my brothers new CVA Hawken up and running before I tear it all down to start shaping the wood.
A beautiful 50* blue sky day as well! :party0007: |
Did you get a LEE mold MD?
BPS |
Yes, the .530 DC Lee. It did good. Cleaned it up real good, a little anti seize behind the sprue cutter screw and a little on the pins and she dropped nice smooth balls.
Also did a run of .570's for my .58 as I was out. |
Yes, and they're not a bad mold for the $$. The sprue isn't as noticeable on the Lees as it is on some of the others like Lyman. Have a half doz. or so Lees and have been pleased with them so far.

I use to spend my Friday nights casting a variety of balls/bullets. A couple years ago had someone decide they needed my equipment and lead more than I did. Thankfully I had a few cans full here at the house. Hope to one day replace everything.
