Effect of limb shape/type
 

It seems like the difference between longbows and recurves are getting smaller. I was looking at the Bob Lee site and his takedown longbow and takedown recurve bows have very similar riser shapes...was wondering what the real differences between these two bows would be...the site says the recurve is faster by 5 fps...are there advantages to the longbow? (Quieter, easier to shoot, more forgiving?)

I understand there are huge differences between a 68" longbow and a 58 inch recurve but am wondering what of these differences is due solely to limbshape.

Depending on your draw length, the longbow limbs would probably be prone to more stacking past 28". Recurve limbs can handle more draw length without stacking. I suspect the longbow limbs would be quieter.
