Hickory or White Ash?
Would Hickory or White Ash be better for a longbow. Looking for about 30-40lbs of pull. I'm dumb when it comes to uncommon woods.

RE: Hickory or White Ash?
I have some maple shafts which fly slow but ok they're 65 lbs. I'm sure you are aware that whenever you go to the other woods the tradeoff is usually lack of consistency in straightness. You can straighten them ,but it takes a lot of muscle. Then again, great for stump shooting. I ended up going back to Port Orford and just buying bulk, but I will admit I should really experiment more. Maybe there's shafts out there that have been milled really well and are good and straight out of the box. If you find some let me know.

Hickory has more spring than ash. You'd get a snappier bow with hickory. They are both quite strong.
