Left dominant, shooting right
I am a lefty, and it seems like I am left dominant completely. Is this going to effect my instinctive shooting, because I shoot right handed. Currently I am hitting accurately at a distance of 10 yards, because this is all that my basement allows. Will I still be accurate at farther distances?
Thanks for the help |
RE: Left dominant, shooting right
I'm right dominant and am learning to shoot lefty because of a bad shoulder. I've learned that I have to lean my head and cant the bow quite a bit more than I did when shooting righty. Reason is to get the nock end of the arrow directly under my right eye. Fred Bear was right eye dominant and shot lefty as well. After wondering for all those years why Fred Bear used such a heavy cant and head tilt, it suddenly made sense.
Anyway, accurate shooting at longer distances can be done, it's just not as easy as matching your shooting side to your dominant eye. |
RE: Left dominant, shooting right
You are at a disadvantage shooting "crosseyed". To shoot well instinctively you have to shoot with both eyes open. Your dominant eye will always try to do the aiming. You'll have a much easier time shooting left-handed. Since you are left-dominant anyway, I suspect you would be surprised how natural shooting southpaw would become.

RE: Left dominant, shooting right
Wingbone pretty much said it, If you are left eye Dominant, you will shoot better left handed, I know somebody will say horse pucky, but it is true. I am left handed and right eye dominant, and switched from left handed to right some years ago, and accuracy greatly improved.
