Ben Pearson Hunter / Recurve
 

Looking to see if anyone has any info on this bow , It was just given to me by my dad. Its older than I am ( 29 ) and has been used maybe 3 times he says. The bow is light wood with a brown overlay on the limbs. The quiver was metal & the string silencers are cork ( in good shape ) ! The only writing on it is the Ben Pearson arrow & it says "hunter" and #709 below a picture of a guy hunting in the woods. Its 58" and has the # 09-2363 above the 40# and 28" draw length. Looking forward to getting it stringed & trying it out :D Thanks in advance for the info

This is what I could find so far with the writing on the bow (google) :vintage, Ben Pearson Hunter 709, a 58-inch recurve, with a 40-pound draw weight at 28 inches.

Try www.archeryarchives.com and click on pearson bows and scroll down. You will find it, I found my recurve from 1974 on there. Good luck!!

I didn't have much of anything to do this morning, so I looked it up. Pearson Hunter 709, was made from 1965-67. Brace height should be between 7 3/4" - 8 1/2". Riser is zebrawood, brown glass on the limbs. MSRP $50. In 1968 the model number was changed to 7090, so your bow is one of the earlier ones.

Thanks AP , There aren't any issues about using a bow this old are there ? I want to get it re-strung and start using it .......looks brand new , was in my dads atticsince before I was born. Still has 3 arrows w/ broadheads that are in good shape. My local shop should be able to get a string for it correct ? My next door neighbor showed me the "stepover" method last night to string it. Cant wait to shoot it !

I had an old Ben Pearson take down recurve given to me around 1975. It featured a sold alum riser with solid green glass limbs. The limbs bolted onto the riser with 2 Allen head bolts and shot very nice indeed. Anyone have ANY idea what that bow was?

I looked on the above Ben Pearson link around 1965+ and I don't see it anywhere.

Anyone have ANY idea WHAT the bow WAS?

Slug, I'd invest in a bow stringer asap. I'm as guilty as anyone of step-through stringing, but it's easy to twist a limb like that. If you need help finding one, give me a holler--I have a good supply of Selway stringers on hand.

would I be able ( after much practice ) to take a deer with this bow ?

Given enough practice one could shoot a deer with a branch and a string...
